University of Vaasa has acquired the AI tool Keenious Plus. Keenious is an AI-based information retrieval tool for searching articles. You can feed Keenious with text, questions or give it a PDF article to analyse. Keenious does not store or copy the analysed text.
The analysis provides you with recommendations for relevant articles. You can narrow down your search results by selecting topics, entering your own keywords, or applying filters. Keenious uses data from OpenAlex, a large international and multidisciplinary database of scientific publications.
As of the coming update (August 25, 2025), Keenious functions as an interactive conversational tool that users can engage with to refine searches and explore related topics. It does not summarize or generate text on behalf of the user.
When a publication recommended by Keenius is openly available, an open access icon and a link to the article will appear in the search results. Use the Check UWASA Access link to check if the article is included in the university's subscriptions:
Keenius can be used either in a web browser or in a word processor. To start using the tool, sign up at https://keenious.com/auth/sign-up?institution=uwasa. Enter your University of Vaasa email address in the format username@uwasa.fi. Once you have registered for an account, you can access the tool at https://keenious.com/ via the link in Tritonia-Finna.
The Keenious add-in is available for both Microsoft Word and Google Docs. It enables you to search for relevant articles while working on your text. Click here for more information on installing the add-in.
Keenious offers monthly webinars that are open to all users. Click here to view the upcoming webinar schedule and register. A dedicated session for University of Vaasa users will be organized during the autumn. More details will be shared later.
