A new Ebook Central Reader App will be introduced on 1 April for users at University of Vaasa and VAMK University of Applied Sciences. The app will be available for both mobile devices and computers, replacing the Adobe Digital Editions software previously used in the service. Any books you have recently downloaded to Adobe Digital Editions will remain accessible there until their loan period ends.
The Ebook Central Reader App allows you to download e-books to your device and read them offline. Browser-based reading will remain unchanged – you can continue to read e-books in Ebook Central using the Read Online option.
Using the app requires a personal Ebook Central account. You can create an account in Ebook Central via the Sign In page. Registering your device requires a numeric code, which you can obtain during the download process or from your account settings. More detailed instructions for downloading and using the app are available in ProQuest’s Ebook Central guide.
Students can download the app to their own devices starting from 1 April. The app will also be made available for staff workstations. We will share the details as they become available.

Tritonia Finna is a search service that brings together the diverse electronic resources of the institutions of higher education and the printed materials of Tritonia in one place. In 2024, more than 1.09 million searches were made through Tritonia Finna. The search service was evaluated in 2025 as part of the Finna user survey organized by the National Library of Finland.
Tritonia Finna has strengthened its position as a reliable partner for students and researchers – a useful, functional, and widely used service that supports learning and research. The service is regarded as a key tool for studying and research. Usage at is very active, as 69 % of users use the service at least weekly, and 92 % at least monthly. Only a small proportion of users (7 %) use the service less frequently than once a month.
The usability of the search service receives praise. 95 % of respondents agree that the service is useful, and 90 % find it easy to use. Time savings are also emphasized: more than 85 % of respondents feel that the service speeds up information retrieval.
The overall rating of the service increased compared to previous years: users gave a score of 8.4, and a large proportion would recommend the service to others. The recommendation index NPS (Net Promoter Score) is 42, which is a good result. More than 97 % of respondents reported that they usually find the material they are looking for in Tritonia Finna.
Open comments highlight ease of use, clarity, and comprehensiveness: “The search service is great and makes life easier!” and “It works and runs smoothly.” The service is praised for being fast and user-friendly.
We thank all respondents for participating in the survey! Tritonia Finna is part of the Finna service developed and maintained by the National Library of Finland. We will continue to develop the search service in cooperation with the National Library and other service providers and are happy to receive feedback and suggestions for improvement.
Staff and students at the institutions of higher education can influence the collections of Tritonia by making acquisition requests and can get support for using Tritonia Finna and its resources by utilizing the Library Guides (for example, Tritonia Finna video guides) or by contacting the library.
