Osuva will be updated in August

This is a significant update, as upgrading DSpace from version 5 to version 8 is almost equivalent to introducing a new application. There will be some interruptions, but we will aim to keep them as short as possible. Preparations for the update have already begun.

While the change will increase the number of broken links ('link rot'), persistent URN identifiers will continue to function as addresses.

Updates have already been made to Statistics Finland's Otos, the University of the Arts Helsinki's Taju, and Natural Resources Institute Finland's (Luke) Jukuri systems. Based on current information, Theseus of universities of applied sciences will be updated in the first half of next year.

Access key will be disabled on two weekends in July

Due to festivals taking place on campus, access with the Tritonia key will be disabled on two weekends in July:

Fri 4 July at 4 PM – Mon 7 July at 8 AM

Fri 11 July at 4 PM – Mon 14 July at 8 AM.

We are looking for a university trainee!

Tritonia Academic Library is seeking a part-time university trainee to join our Learning and Research Support team.

The internship lasts for 6 months at 50% working hours, starting on August 1, 2025, and ending on January 31, 2026.

The trainee will participate in delivering multichannel customer service in an international higher education environment. Tasks also include book logistics, communication duties, and possibly other assignments depending on the trainee's skills.

The traineeship must be included as part of your degree at the University of Vaasa.

Tritonia Academic Library is open all summer, but there are slight changes in the opening hours.

Mon–Fri open at 8–16, customer service at 11–15

Starting Monday, August 18, normal opening hours will apply

Tritonia Allegro's summer opening hours are as follows:

Tues–Thurs at 11–15

Fri closed

Tritonia Allegro is closed 10 June and 23 June – 27 July.

Changes to Financial Times login

The Financial Times (FT.com) has implemented SSO (single sign-on) login for users of University of Vaasa. In practice, this means using the University of Vaasa email address to log in.

To access the Financial Times:

1. Go to https://www.ft.com/ or open the service from the Finna database link.
2. Click on the Sign In button at the top right.
3. Enter your uwasa email address (username(at)uwasa.fi or username(at)student.uwasa.fi).
4. Click on the SSO Sign in button.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions for the rest of the login process.

If this is your first time logging in to FT.com, the site will ask you to complete your account information. FT.com will process the information you provide in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

PressReader available at VAMK - Read newspapers and magazines from all over the world

VAMK University of Applied Sciences will have access to PressReader for the remainder of 2025. PressReader contains over 7,000 newspapers and magazines from all over the world, including The Guardian, Newsweek, etc. In addition to newspapers, there are trade journals
and magazines in several categories. Newspapers and magazines are available on the day of publication and up to 90 days back.

PressReader is available through VAMK Finna and LibGuides both on campus and remotely. 

PressReader can be accessed in a browser and via a mobile app.
