The interlibrary loan service enables customers to borrow or get copies of material that cannot be found in Tritonia or other libraries in the area. Registered customers of Tritonia can use the service. We send interlibrary loans and copies of our own collections to other libraries and charge according to the service price list.
In matters related to interlibrary loans, please contact ill@uwasa.fi.
Interlibrary loans for customers
Make an interlibrary loan request by using the online form. If you want to order multiple items, fill out a separate form for each.
Before making the request, check in the Tritonia Finna search service that the material is not in Tritonia’s collections. The e-resources acquired by the University of Vaasa, VAMK and Novia can be used on the library’s search computers in accordance with licence agreements. You can save search results, e.g. articles, on a flash drive or print them. Check also that the material you want is not available in another library nearby.
Once you have made the request, you are committed to paying for it. Interlibrary loans and copies that are not picked up are still charged according to Tritonia’s service prices.
The sending library determines the loan period and other loan conditions. The customer is responsible for returning the interlibrary loan and obliged to compensate for lost or damaged material in accordance with the invoice of the sending library.
Picking up, returning and renewing an interlibrary loan
The interlibrary loan service transfers physical items, thus the loan must be picked up from Tritonia and returned to Tritonia. Article copies are always printed on paper for copyright reasons and can be kept by the customer. You can request the renewal of an interlibrary loan by email at ill@uwasa.fi.
Are you doing a thesis?
If you are writing your thesis, you are entitled to free interlibrary loans, provided that you are a registered customer at Tritonia and the interlibrary loan request is made at Tritonia. This applies to:
- bachelor’s and master’s degree students at the University of Vaasa
- students doing a thesis at VAMK
- students doing a thesis at Novia
The student must submit to Tritonia’s interlibrary loan service a certificate signed by the thesis supervisor to prove that they have started doing their thesis. The supervisor can also send information to the interlibrary loan service by email with the student’s name, university, subject and type of the thesis.
You can get five free interlibrary loan items against the certificate per thesis. The student pays for other interlibrary loans (books or articles) requested for the thesis.
If you are doing your thesis somewhere else than in Vaasa, you can acquire the necessary material from local libraries or use their interlibrary loan services.
