A significant part of Tritonia’s collections are electronic materials, such as databases, journals, articles and various tools, that provide essential content for studying, teaching and research. Our e-resources include universities’ licensed and openly available online sources.
The materials are available to students and staff on campus and remotely. You can access your university’s e-resources in the university’s Tritonia Finna search service. Licensed materials are available also to other customers on the library’s search computers.
Databases
Databases are a central part of Tritonia’s electronic collections. They provide high-quality and up-to-date material for the needs of different fields, for example, articles, e-books, journals, videos, dictionaries, standards and reference data. There are domestic and international services as well as licensed and openly available sources.
All databases can be found in the Tritonia Finna search service. You can search for a database by name or browse the selection by topic or material type. Tritonia’s subject guides also provide tips on key databases in various fields.
E-journals
Tens of thousands of domestic and international e-journals are available via Tritonia Finna. In addition to the journals acquired by the universities, Tritonia Finna has selected open scientific publications. Most of the journals are scientific publications, but there are also professional journals and newspapers.
You can search for a specific journal in Tritonia Finna by name or browse the e-journals by topic. Tritonia’s subject guides also include lists of journals in different fields.
Articles
You can search for articles published in international periodicals and research journals in Tritonia Finna or the databases’ own user interfaces, where you can make use of their database-specific subject terms or other functionalities if necessary. In Tritonia Finna, you can search for articles, for example, by subject, author, publication or the article’s name. By using the links in the search results, you can open the article if your university has access to the material.
Using e-resources
Universities’ licensed e-materials are available to the students and staff on campus in the university’s network and remotely after logging in to the university’s Tritonia Finna search service with HAKA credentials. You can open e-resources by using the links in Tritonia Finna. There are also remote access links to e-resources in some of our library guides.
Access to e-resources is based on the universities’ IP addresses. Some materials use different methods of identification, for example, the Biblio and Ellibs e-book services require Tritonia’s library card and PIN code.
The e-resources acquired by the University of Vaasa, VAMK and Novia can be used also by other customers on the library’s search computers in Tritonia (Vaasa) in accordance with the terms of the licensing agreements. You can save search results, such as articles, on a flash drive or print them.
The terms of use of e-resources are defined in the licensing agreements. Use is permitted for teaching, study and research purposes. Materials may not be used for commercial purposes or fed into AI applications. Links to the material-specific terms of use can be found in Tritonia Finna. Printed journals
In the library, you will find a selection of domestic and foreign journals as well as newspapers. In Tritonia Finna, you can check if the journal is available in electronic format or in print in the library.
The latest issues of printed journals can be found in Tritonia’s journal area on the second floor. Older volumes are in remote stacks, from where you can request them for reading room use in the library. You can scan articles to your email and flash drive or make copies of them.
