Tritonia acquires literature to support the teaching, research and studying at the Vaasa University of Applied Sciences. We acquire material primarily at requests of the staff of VAMK, but students and other customers of the library can also make acquisition suggestions.
Textbooks
Books (printed and e-books) included in the degree programmes are textbooks. We acquire several copies of textbooks depending on the number of students participating in the course and, if necessary, one teacher’s copy for the unit.
Textbooks are primarily acquired as electronic. You can check the user rights of e-books with the library. The library acquires also one printed copy of e-textbooks to the textbook collection.
Before the start of the semester, the course teacher should check that the library’s textbook collection contains a sufficient number of copies and inform Tritonia of the need for e-textbooks.
Subject and research literature
To Tritonia’s general collection, we primarily acquire literature needed in education and research. You can make an acquisition request online with the acquisition form.
Books for staff use
Units can order literature via Tritonia to the units’ own reference libraries. The unit is responsible for the funding of material for staff use.
Journals
Journals are acquired to the library’s collections for education and research use and in electronic form whenever possible. You can make an acquisition request for journals online with the acquisition form.
