Tritonia acquires literature to support the research and education at the Novia University of Applied Sciences in Vaasa and Jakobstad. The goal is to shift more and more from printed to online materials.
We acquire material primarily at requests of the staff of Novia, but students and other customers of the library can also make acquisition suggestions.
Textbooks
We acquire several copies of textbooks depending on the number of students participating in the course, and if necessary, one teacher’s copy for the unit. Other customers cannot borrow the teacher’s copy.
You should inform the library about new textbooks no later than 31 May for the fall semester and 30 November for the spring semester. You can make acquisition requests online with the acquisition form.
Subject and research literature
To Tritonia’s general collection, we primarily acquire literature needed in education and research. You can make an acquisition request online with the acquisition form. Usually one copy per title is acquired to the subject and research literature collection.
Book for staff use
Units can order literature via Tritonia to the units’ own reference libraries. The unit is responsible for the funding of material for staff use.
Journals
Journals are acquired to the library’s collections for education and research use and in electronic form whenever possible. The unit pays for journals acquired for the unit. You can make an acquisition request for journals online with the acquisition form.
