How are library services organised for students of online degree programmes?
Library services are usually arranged in co-operation with the university or UAS library of the place of education. Always ask more details about the required literature from the teacher of the course.
Academic libraries are open public libraries, so students can get a library card to any university or UAS library in their area and borrow printed books. You can check available books in the library’s own or the national Finna.fi search service.
How do I access e-resources remotely?
Most of the online resources your university or UAS has acquired are available anywhere by logging in to your university’s Tritonia Finna search service with your HAKA credentials. Then you will have access to e-books, e-journals and databases.
Do I need a library card to Tritonia?
You need a library card if you want to borrow printed materials from Tritonia or use the e-book services Ellibs or Biblio.
I have forgotten the PIN code for my library card, what do I do?
You can create a completely new PIN code in the Tritonia Finna search service, see instructions behind the link below. You can change your current PIN code yourself in your account in Tritonia Finna.
I do not know or remember my university username, what to do?
If you are a degree student, please contact the Helpdesk at your university. If you are an Open University or UAS student, contact the student services of the Open University or UAS.
How can I get printed textbooks from Tritonia in Vaasa?
We can send textbooks to our students in Finland by cash on delivery. Prices start at 19,90 €. You can also return your loan to us by mail at your own expense, our address is Tritonia, PO Box 331, 65101 Vaasa. Please notify the library of your return in advance by email at loans@uwasa.fi. We do not claim books sent to us by cash on delivery. The customer is responsible for books that go missing in the mail.
Note that textbooks for online degree programmes are as a rule located in a library in the place of education, and students should primarily use those books.
